This is PETer.

The desperate PET bottle.

PETer the bottle wonders about the meaning of his short life as a bottle.

And rightly so, because according to the Deutsche Umwelthilfe (German Environmental Aid), around 16.4 billion of his fellow PET bottles are used every year in Germany alone.

Producing them requires around 340,000 tonnes of crude oil and natural gas condensates – enough to heat 276,000 single-family homes for a year. Put another way: lined up end to end, this quantity of PET bottles would circle the earth 135 times.

The bottles also burden the environment after use – in Asia and in developing countries, PET bottles are often not recycled but are instead disposed of via rivers or directly into the sea, polluting coastlines and beaches and killing animals.
